Young Ambassadors – Young Leaders

The project is aimed at young people of foreign origin aged 13–16 living in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. They will receive training in advocacy and soft skills.

The aim of the project is to invite young people from different countries and cultures to take part in public debate and to increase their participation in it.

The project is implemented by the Office for Human Rights and Democracy of the City of Reykjavík in partnership with Wrocław Municipality, under an inter-city grant awarded by the Council of Europe Intercultural Cities Programme (ICC).

Young Ambassadors is a joint project of the cities of Reykjavík and Wrocław. Both cities are members of the Council of Europe Intercultural Cities network (Intercultural Cities Programme).

The project runs until the end of 2024.

What will happen in the project?

In November, there will be a study visit to Wrocław. Eight Young Leaders from Reykjavík will meet eight Young Leaders with a migration background from Wrocław schools. Together they will take part in the training “Us. You. Them. The Host Society and the Challenges of Integration” – a training course that addresses how we perceive and judge people with experience of migration or forced displacement, including children and young people, and how this affects their integration into the host society (taking part in the training enables effective diagnosis and makes it easier to solve problems in a multicultural community).

This meeting will be preceded by an online meeting. In Wrocław, we are starting to recruit young people with a migration background from selected secondary schools.
