On June 27-29 2023, our colleagues Dorota, Zhanna, and Ewa participated in the international Intercultural integration training course for Polish cities, organised by the Intercultural Cities Programme, with the support of the Union of Polish Metropolises, and hosted by the city of Lublin.

The aim of the training was to familiarize the employees of the local governments with the model of intercultural integration of the Council of Europe (CoE) and to build the ability to respond to current challenges related to the integration of migrants and refugees.

Practical training included a workshop on the Anti-Rumour Strategy (ARS), the precursor of which is the city of Barcelona, and media skills training on promoting inclusive messages. As part of the training, all participants had the opportunity to discuss and share their experiences, good practices and challenges.

During the visit, we also visited the integration space “Baobab” and got acquainted with the work of the Foreigners Service Point operating as part of the Lublin Residents Service Office.

We would like to thank the organisers for the invitation, and all participants for their input and discussions!

More about the meeting in the CoE newsroom: link.

The training is part of an inter-agency initiative for Polish cities, developed jointly by the Council of Europe, ODIHR, UNHCR and OECD together with the Union of Polish Metropolises.
