On 21 November 2023, World Hello Day, another meeting of representatives of Wrocław’s national and ethnic minorities took place, moderated by the Wrocław Centre for Social Development (WCRS). Representatives of the Karaim, Ukrainian, Armenian, German, Tatar, Greek and Jewish communities, as well as of organisations and institutions working for national and ethnic minorities, gathered at the welcoming headquarters of Towarzystwo Społeczno-Kulturalne Żydów on ul. Świdnicka.
The meeting was an opportunity to get to know one another and share memories, but also to talk about plans for the near and more distant future and to plan joint events. 2024 will bring several occasions to celebrate, including the 15th anniversary of the “Kalejdoskop Kultur” agreement and the anniversary of the founding of the Wrocław Centre for Social Development (WCRS), which supports, on behalf of the city, national and ethnic minorities in Wrocław.

The meetings respond to a previously expressed need for regular exchange of information and joint activities. Another need that was voiced is to raise awareness and encourage Wrocław residents to take part in events organised by these organisations.
It was also agreed that a digital guide will be created with key information about Wrocław’s national and ethnic minorities, and that a joint calendar of events will be published.
The next meeting is planned after the New Year. Another occasion to meet will be the Wrocław Kutia organised by the Wrocław branch of Związek Ukraińców w Polsce (ZUwP) – a gathering of Wrocław’s national and ethnic minorities with a 30-year tradition, which was one of the starting points for cooperation between representatives of various religious or ethnic groups.
Thank you for participating in the meeting!
