What should Wrocław’s Intercultural Policy be like? – public consultations

In recent years, Wrocław has become a new home for many people of diverse backgrounds. This calls for action to build a community that takes into account the cultural diversity of its residents. That is why we, the Wrocław Centre for Social Development, are presenting the draft Wrocław Intercultural Policy for 2027-2031.

In the public consultations, organised together with the Fundacja na Rzecz Studiów Europejskich (FEPS) and the Social Participation Department of Wrocław City Hall, we are asking residents for their opinion on the draft document. We want to hear the proposals and views of the people of Wrocław, including migrants, so that the document being drafted responds to the real needs and challenges of a diverse community.

The Intercultural Policy is to set the direction for building the Wrocław community. We want this community to live in mutual respect, regardless of origin, cultural identity, language or religion. We want every resident to feel at home in our shared city, with the same rights and obligations.

The planned measures aim, among other things, to ensure access to public services and to strengthen integration processes. Neighbourhood communities and schools are given a special role. Multidimensional cooperation in this area will also be an important element in preventing intercultural conflicts and discrimination.

Scope of the document

The draft Wrocław Intercultural Policy 2027-31 covers the following key areas:

  • intercultural cooperation and communication,
  • challenges in collecting data on migration,
  • education and intercultural integration of children and youth,
  • integration in local communities and migrants’ participation in cultural life,
  • preventing and resolving conflicts,
  • counteracting discrimination, hate speech and disinformation,
  • supporting the adaptation, social participation and independence of newcomers,
  • accessibility of public services and labour market activation,
  • building social resilience, including resilience in times of crisis.
