10 Years of the Kalejdoskop Kultur Foundation!

A dozen or so smartly dressed people of different ages stand in front of a Gothic portal in Wrocław Town Hall.

On Sunday, 24 November 2024, representatives of the Wrocław Centre for Social Development had the special pleasure of attending the Celebration of Cooperation – the 10th anniversary of the Kalejdoskop Kultur Foundation.

This extraordinary ceremony took place in the Great Hall of the Old Town Hall. It would be impossible to name all the guests, who included members of the diplomatic corps, members of parliament, representatives of local authorities and, most importantly, representatives of national and ethnic minorities and migrants.

The event was hosted by the Mayor of Wrocław, Jacek Sutryk, together with the founders (Igor Salamon, Mariola Abkowicz), the members of the Council (in addition to the founders, Janusz Kobecki) and the Board of the Kalejdoskop Kultur Foundation (Olga Chrebor, Katarzyna Zaremba, Małgorzata Chilkiewicz). The opening speeches highlighted both the long-standing tradition of cooperation between minorities and the Wrocław local government (initiated by Dorota Kozak-Rybska, a member of the WCRS Intercultural Dialogue Team), which led to the establishment of the Foundation, and the unique character of Wrocław’s intercultural dialogue, founded on a willingness to build relationships.

The meeting was co-led by Mariola Abkowicz, Igor Salamon and Olga Chrebor. The celebrations were enhanced by live music. Two groups performed during the evening: Michał Kuliczenko and Friends (a name behind which stand the excellent musicians Patrycja Betley, Karolina Matuszkiewicz and Mateusz Szemraj) and Śpiewacza Banda, led by Dana Vynnytska and joined by a group of outstanding instrumentalists (Roland Abreu, Cyprian Baszyński, Taras Bakovskyy, Maciej Gizejewski).

By the end of the concert, the audience was swept up in dancing. This is how cooperation is celebrated in Wrocław!
