Children arriving from abroad often face a language barrier and difficulties in adapting. School is often the first and most important place where children learn how to find their way in a new society, so it plays a key role in the adaptation process.
For this reason, the team at the Wrocław Centre for Social Development has prepared a new edition of the “School Starter Pack” – a practical guide that explains how the Polish education system works in a clear and accessible way.
The publication covers:
▸the education pathway in Poland – how the Polish school system is structured,
▸the organisation of the school year – when the school year begins and ends, and when the school holidays and public holidays fall,
▸exams – which exams pupils take at different stages of their education,
▸pupils’ rights and responsibilities,
▸the organisation of extracurricular activities,
▸everyday matters, such as what an after-school club is, what to wear for PE lessons, how the electronic register works, etc.
The guide has been published in three language versions: Polish, Ukrainian and English. In September, it will be distributed to Wrocław schools and handed out to parents, carers and pupils. Would you like a copy? Ask for the Starter Pack at Przejście Dialogu (ul. Świdnicka, Wrocław).
