As many as three projects from Wrocław have been recognised in the “Polish Cities for Ukraine – Taiwan Grant Fund” grant competition. The winning projects, which aim, among other things, to strengthen the active participation of people from Ukraine in local community life and to support the integration of Ukrainian children and young people into the Polish education system, will be carried out in cooperation with Wrocław Municipality until 2025.
“Polish Cities for Ukraine – Taiwan Grant Fund” is a grant competition organised by the Paweł Adamowicz Union of Polish Metropolises. The competition is financed by the Taipei Representative Office in Poland, which has allocated a pool of approximately PLN 3 million for the projects.
The competition was open to non-governmental organisations (including foundations and associations), social cooperatives and religious associations working to integrate people from Ukraine in Poland. A condition for taking part was establishing cooperation with a local government unit. The competition consisted of submitting a project proposal and then presenting the project to a jury in Warsaw.
On 10 June 2024, representatives of the Union of Polish Metropolises announced the results of the competition, in which a total of 19 of the 89 submitted projects received funding. We are delighted that they include 3 projects submitted by non-governmental organisations from Wrocław:
- Fundacja Kalejdoskop Kultur with the project “Doing Well at School – psychosocial support for Ukrainian children and young people and their carers. Developing the intercultural competences of teaching staff and young people in Polish schools.”
- Fundacja Medyczna Solidarność with the project “Be Active in Wrocław – Explore, Discover and Experience”, which aims, among other things, to strengthen the active participation in local life of refugees from Ukraine living in a temporary accommodation centre.
- Fundacja Integracji Społecznej PROM & Fundacja Inside with the art project “Difference + Similarity = Friendship”, involving creative activities that will bring together children and young people of different nationalities and ages, above all children from Ukraine who arrived as a result of the Russian aggression.
Each of the projects will be carried out in cooperation with Wrocław Municipality, represented by the Intercultural Dialogue Team of the Wrocław Centre for Social Development.
We would like to thank all the organisations for their ideas and their work on the applications. Warm congratulations to all the winners!
