“Together on Interculturality” #2: Exchanging knowledge and information – after the meeting

There is no magic formula for information exchange – what matters most is building relationships and trust, as well as regular networking and sharing knowledge and experiences. On 11 October 2023, the second networking meeting for organisations and individuals working in the field of intercultural dialogue was held as part of the “Together on Interculturality” series.

______

The starting point for the meeting was the challenges and issues raised by participants in the table discussions on Cooperation during the inauguration of the series on 14 September this year. In response to the proposed discussion topics, we invited representatives of Wrocław organisations and institutions to share inspiring practices, experiences and the tools they use for cooperation and communication.

City information platforms were presented by representatives of the WCRS Intercultural Dialogue Team (which runs the Wielokultury Wrocław website and social media profile), the Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency (ARAW) – publisher of the Wrocław.pl portal and newsletter – and the Social Participation Department of Wrocław City Hall (UMW), which manages the social participation platform Wrocław Rozmawia.

Representatives of Dolnośląska Federacja Organizacji Pozarządowych talked about activities that network and bring together non-governmental organisations in Lower Silesia and Wrocław. They invited participants to the Congress of Non-Governmental Organisations (held on 25 October this year) and listed existing online networking tools, including the wro-ngo website and group.

Representatives of Fundacja Umbrella, which runs the city’s programme supporting non-governmental initiatives, Centrum Sektor3, talked about, among other things, its educational and mentoring offer for organisations and informal groups, as well as its communication tools, such as the newsletter and the cultural portal cowewro.pl.

A representative of the network of Wrocław Local Activity Centres (CAL) outlined the network’s communication strategy, which is based on building personal, trust-based relationships with residents and organisations active in the neighbourhood.

Representatives of the Wrocław Institute of Culture and the Culture Department of Wrocław City Hall talked about efforts to reach new audiences for Wrocław’s cultural institutions, namely the city’s new residents. A separate meeting on this topic was announced.

Representatives of WroMigrant (WCRS), Stowarzyszenie Nomada (Miejsce Otwarte) and Fundacja Ukraina shared many tips on promoting activities among diverse multicultural groups (multilingual groups) – focusing, among other things, on diversifying information channels, going beyond online activities and building personal relationships with opinion leaders from migrant communities.

In the discussion following the presentations, participants talked about needs and suggested tools that could help network social organisations and institutions.

We came away from the meeting with many ideas and inspirations put forward by the participants themselves. Thank you very much for your presence, commitment and willingness to share your experiences.

We would like to thank the FEPS and DFOP teams for co-organising the meeting and for their communication support, and Tadeusz Mincer (FEPS) for moderating it.

Contacts, links, addresses and tips can be found in the meeting notes and in the Padlet discussion.

SAVE THE DATE

The next “Together on Interculturality” meeting will be held on 15 November at 10:00. It will focus on the issues raised during the inauguration of the series at the “Support” table.

We will provide a detailed agenda and registration form in the coming days.

The last meeting of 2023 is scheduled for 13 December and will be held in person.

Make a note of the dates in your calendar!
